Our Peer Navigators in Kaloko
Our Peer Navigators in Kaloko have continued their outreach work with a focus on reaching adolescents and young people where they live and gather. Their routine visits in the community allow them to meet young people in familiar settings and offer simple, direct guidance on HIV prevention.
During these sessions, they provide onsite HIV testing with proper counselling before and after each test. Those who need additional support are linked to PrEP services through clear and timely referrals. The Peer Navigators take care to explain how PrEP works, who is eligible, and why regular follow-up at a health facility matters. They also help young people understand the importance of knowing their HIV status and staying connected to care.
This approach has strengthened trust between the outreach team and the community. Young people in Kaloko are finding it easier to ask questions, raise concerns, and access services without delay. The work of the Peer Navigators continues to play a central role in expanding prevention efforts and improving health outcomes for the area’s adolescents and young adults.
